ABOUT THE CHEF

Cassie Kruger is a personal/private chef who spent her youth in Orange County, California – strongly influenced by the diverse society and eclectic variety of food. In addition to the cultural influence and local cuisine of Southern California, Cassie owes her love of food to her grandmother, Claire. Driven by Claire’s outstanding cooking and passion in the kitchen, combined with Cassie's own natural and creative culinary instincts, Cassie developed an interest in Gastronomy -- the Art and History of Food. She began preparing meals for her family of five at a very early age. Now, 10 years later, Food is an Art to Chef Kruger...if you can dream it, she can prepare it.

Cassie's admiration of the culinary arts led her out of California to the Big Apple at the young age of 18 to attend one of the world's finest culinary schools, The Culinary Institute of America (CIA), in Hyde Park, New York. After a year of intensive training, Cassie ventured to Catalina, Arizona, for her first externship at the Miraval Life in Balance Resort and Spa. Chef Kruger attributes her knowledge of nutritious cooking to her Miraval experience, where she learned that leading a healthy lifestyle doesn't necessarily mean you can't have the foods you crave. Cassie then returned to the CIA where she continued her studies, apprenticing with several Master Chefs. Chef Kruger graduated from the Culinary Institute receiving the highest degree offered, Bachelor of Professional Studies.

Ready to fulfill her cooking dreams, Chef Kruger traveled west to awesome Aspen, Colorado. Where she embarked on a new way of life as Private Chef to the famous Mr. Bourke (best known for "Dooney and Bourke" designer handbags.) Working for the Bourke family, Chef Kruger prepared custom meals for two that included meals [two to three] appetizers, soup, salad, main course, and of course dessert! She also prepared meals for parties with as many as sixteen guests.

Eventually, craving the sun, beaches and her family, Chef Kruger journeyed back to Southern California where she founded Anything but Ordinary Catering.
